The 2014 nominating committee for the WSBA Board of Directors (Martha Walsh, Tricia Lawrence, and myself) has submitted this slate of candidates for the open positions on the WSBA Board:

- East region director:  Jerry Long
- Southwest region director:  Erik Anderson
- Junior development director:  Joe Holmes

Directors on the Board are elected for a three-year term by a vote of the membership (one vote per USAC club in Washington and North Idaho who are present at the meeting), conducted at the annual meeting.

Annual meeting information:

Saturday, December 13, 2014
REI in Redmond
7500 166th Ave NE
Redmond, WA 98052
3:00-5:00 pm

The WSBA bylaws allow additional nominations from any two directors or ten individual members, "by written petition addressed to the Secretary of the corporation…at least 10 days prior to the date of the annual meeting." If you have anyone else you would like to consider for a director position, please e-mail the secretary, Martha Walsh, at roadupgrades@wsbaracing.com.

The Board of Directors elects officers of the WSBA board. If you are interested in being, or know of someone who is interested in being, an officer, feel free to contact me. Officer positions include President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Thanks,

Ted

Hey Everyone,

This past weekend I attended the annual USA Cycling Annual Meeting.  One of the topics we discussed was the need to reduce the cost of entry for beginner riders so it’s easier for them enjoy our sport.  As a follow up to last year’s meeting, the WSBA Boards strong opposition to the cost of the one day license fee, and negative feedback we’ve heard from membership and organizers.  I delivered that message that the cost of 1 day licenses is overpriced.  The most of the other Local Associations agreed with the WSBA and are also frustrated with the high cost of the 1 day licenses.  Hopefully USA Cycling will take a good look at this and realize that lowering the cost of 1 day licenses to $5 is one of the best things they can do.

On a more positive note USA Cycling liked the WSBA’s idea of selling the following seasons annual license earlier in year so new members would be able to ride their first and second cross season for the cost of one annual license.  They liked the idea so much that they are implementing the change this Thursday so you can race the rest of the 2014 season and all of 2015 season for the price of $70.

The benefits to you are
  • You can race the rest of 2014 and all of 2015 for $70.
  • There are 8 CX races in the WSBA region between now and the end of the year.  There could be a 9thif things come together.
  • It will cost $30 to race both days in the open category on a UCI license in Tacoma next month.  With this offer if you buy the annual license you get all of the remaining races this year and all of next year’s races for the cost of 1 license.
  •  If you are a higher category in an unsanctioned series and a beginner in the USA Cycling system let me know because we can evaluate this on a case by cases bases.

I really missed being at the MFG race this weekend however being that guy that gets to deliver the message “for the love of the sport” to USA Cycling and getting them to move something like this was rewarding .   I hope to see everyone at the upcoming races this year.

Thanks,

Erik

PS - Thanks for all of the FB comments, text messages and emails that you send me while I was in Colorado.
