It's time to start thinking about Meet the Team rides on the ROAD! The purpose of these rides is to allow riders at all levels and abilities to get to know local Northwest teams seeking new members. For the Seattle cycling community, these will begin right after Labor Day and will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from September 12 through November 22. Rides this year will meet at 9:15 at Leschi Park, 201 Lakeside Ave S, Seattle 98122, with the rides departing at 9:30 and proceeding at a social, "no drop" pace around the south end of Lake Washington and returning across I-90 to Leschi.
If your team wants to host a Meet the Team ROAD ride outside Seattle, we will be happy to include your information in the ride list on the WSBA website. Please just let me know where and when the ride will meet and the estimated time/distance of the ride. If your team is interested in hosting a Seattle Meet the Team ride this year, please contact me (marthalwalsh at yahoo.com) with your preferred date and one or two alternates. To secure a date, you’ll need to provide:
1. the name and email address of a team contact (which will be published with ride details);
2. a brief statement of your team's goals and who you’re recruiting;
3. the URL of your team website.
Dates are available on a first-come, first-served basis. September 27, October 4, and October 11 have been reserved for the Intro to Women’s Cycling and Racing Teams rides in Seattle (men-only teams are encouraged to schedule their MTT rides on one of those dates).
USA Cycling recommends that each club purchase insurance to cover its club rides, which will include Meet the Team Rides where all guests also sign waivers. More information on the insurance policy is available from USA Cycling:
