WSBA NEW EVENT SUBSIDY PROGRAM
Objective: To help promoters bring new events to the calendar that support growth for the WSBA membership and competitive cycling community as a whole.
Any promoter who is putting on a competitive cycling event that meets the following criteria may apply for a new event subsidy from the WSBA.

An eligible competitive cycling event is at least one of the following:
Any event open to the public within the WSBA Region that meets one of the following criteria:
**Additional or changed race dates in a weekly series may not qualify for this program.
Any event run on a permit or sanctioning of another national governing body, local association, or other organization that permits/sanctions competitive cycling events is excluded from this subsidy program.
Events applying for support will be evaluated by the WSBA board. Points considered within the evaluation process may include location, historical track record of promoter, and the potential draw of the event based on the application submitted. Subsidies issued will vary in amount but typically will be $250~$500. Equipment rental fees may also be discounted as part of this subsidy offering.
For events receiving a new event subsidy, all promotional materials (and bib numbers where applicable), in addition to the home page of race website and other electronic media, will include the following in a readable size font:

Addition of the WSBA logo in these contexts is appreciated but not mandatory.
Process to apply for an Event Subsidy:
Submit a letter of application, at least 4 months prior to the anticipated event date, to the WSBA president ([email protected]) that includes the following information:
- A cycling event in which participants will be scored or timed, and listed in some sort of ranking/result.
- A cycling event that has timed sections that are reported as a finish result order by the promoter or timing company. This excludes events that defer to 3rd party tracking systems such as Strava, Garmin, Mapmyride etc.
- A cycling event that has a start and finish in which a result order is publicly posted as part of the event’s organization.
Any event open to the public within the WSBA Region that meets one of the following criteria:
- Uses a venue/park/locale that has not hosted a competitive cycling event in the last 2 years or has never hosted a competitive cycling event.
- Is an existing event that opts for USAC sanctioning and has not been sanctioned within the last 2 years.
- In Western Washington,* is scheduled on an additional or changed race date at a venue that currently hosts an event**, if that additional or moved race date falls within these date ranges:
- Road Events – July 16 - September 30
- MTB Cross Country Events – July 16 - October 31
- Cyclocross Events – November 26 - February 1
- In the rest of the WSBA region is an additional race date** at a venue that currently hosts an event.

- Event type
- Event location
- Preliminary budget of event (estimated revenue/participation and expenses)
- Description of the event, including course layout and top level guidelines of how event will be run/managed on race day.
- How event qualifies under the definitions of a competitive event and as a ‘new’ event.
- Level of financial support requested from the WSBA
- Whether the event will be permitted by USAC or another sanctioning body. (USAC sanctioning IS NOT a requirement to be awarded a subsidy.)
