MEET THE TEAM RIDES 2021
-- R O A D --
(see schedule below)
contact: marthalwalsh at yahoo.com
Meet the Team rides are ready to resume in 2021! The purpose of these rides is to allow riders at all levels and abilities to get to know local Northwest teams seeking new members.
For the Seattle cycling community, Meet the Team Rides begin right after Labor Day and will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from September 11 through November 21. Rides will meet at 9:15 at Leschi Park, 201 Lakeside Ave S, Seattle 98122, with the rides departing at 9:30 and proceeding at a social, "no drop" pace around the south end of Lake Washington and returning across I-90 to Leschi.
If your team wants to host a Meet the Team ROAD ride outside Seattle, we will be happy to include your information in the ride list on the WSBA website. Please send a message indicating where and when the ride will meet and the estimated time/distance of the ride.
If your team is interested in hosting a Seattle Meet the Team ride this year, send your preferred date and one or two alternates. To secure a date, you’ll need to provide:
1. the name and email address of a team contact (which will be published with ride details);
2. a brief statement of your team's goals and who you’re recruiting;
3. the URL of your team website.
Dates are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The complete schedule of ride dates and team information will be posted here, probably by mid-August.
If your team is not already listed on the WSBA Teams in the Region page, please fill out and submit this form and we’ll add you to the page so that prospective riders can read about your team.
Please plan your Meet the Team Ride to comply with current public health guidelines in Seattle/King County. Those currently require persons not fully vaccinated to wear a well-fitted mask in all crowded outdoor settings (like the start of the ride, the stop at Coulon Park, and the end of the ride) and to wear masks and stay 6 feet apart if gathering with others not yet vaccinated. Check for updates to the guidelines before your ride and be sure to accommodate those who might not want to gather in a large group or without a mask.
USA Cycling recommends that each team permit its Meet the Team ride as a Non-Competitive Training Ride, which can provide general liability insurance. More information on that permitting process is available from USA Cycling: https://usacycling.org/event-organizer/benefits-of-permitting/permit-process

Our goal as a team is to create an encouraging and inclusive community where people who want to race can strive for their goals regardless of their category or experience. This means that beginners will have other beginners to reach out to and train with, and the top racers in the PNW will have a team and support for competing at the highest level of amateur racing. We regularly have rides where people at diverse levels of racing fitness and experience can connect and train together. This fosters community, and tribal knowledge about training and racing. This year we are excited to announce the addition of a full women's squad that includes some of the fastest women in the PNW (names to be announced soon).
