2013 Beginner Women's Race SeriesA series of three races for truly beginner women (self-selected) is planned for the early 2013 racing season. This series is part of a larger initiative at USA Cycling to expand categories for women's racing. There are no prizes or points from these events, but they offer a chance for beginning racers to race with their peers. Beginner women's races are tentatively scheduled at these events: March 16: Tour de Dung #1 (Sequim) March 23: Tour de Dung #2 (Sequim) April 6: North Bend Criterium In order to run the beginner women's races, a minimum of 20 riders must preregister for both the beginner AND cat 4 women's races. These beginning women's events will be "mentored racing," with elite racers riding along and giving post-race analysis. New racers should consult the race flyers linked above for complete information about license requirements (one-day licenses may be purchased at each event), race number rental or purchase, and links to online preregistration.
